5 Tips for Quick and Simple Home Office Setup

All you need is a weekend! Enjoy your new home without worrying about your home office while you move into your new space.

1. Make it a priority to set up your home office ASAP. A clean and organized area lets you work at your best. Pick a room with a closing door and with roomy enough office furniture. Get up bright and early. The goal is to finish the project by Sunday afternoon. When Monday arrives, your home office is ready.
2. Plan for Productivity. Decide which room you’ll use in your new home as your workspace. Tip: Select a room with privacy and minimal distractions. Facing a wall, rather than having a view out a window, helps with focus. You can get inspiration from Pinterest too!
3. Get the whole family involved. A quick setup depends on lots of hands. Get as many helpers as you can. Have one person can set up the desk and file cabinet. Get another to hang pictures and arrange decor. Someone else can set up lighting and hang file folders. Before you know it, the room will look like a professional home office.
4. Small Space? Get creative. Use furniture that fits the room. TIP: Wall-mounted or stand-up desks work great with smaller spaces. Consider using a corner of the kitchen or living room if all rooms are in use. Have a college student who will be away from home most of the year? Use their unused space as your home office.
5. As you set up, get rid of clutter. Moving is a great time to get rid of what you don’t need anymore. Though many people declutter before moving, it’s a good idea to do it as you’re unpacking your office items too. Put a box aside for donations. Set up a trash bag for what you will throw away.
